MIT ApartmentsMassachusetts Insititute of Technology (MIT) is a prestigious technical college located on the southern side of Cambridge near the Charles River and near Boston. MIT is conveniently located right on the subway line, and near the Mass Ave bridge which grants access to Bostons Back Bay (a very popular area) in only a few minute walk. MIT offers undergraduates and graduates housing options, but many students prefer to live independently from these options and choose to live on their own. Living in an apartment offers a wide variety of convenience that living on campus lacks. Some freedoms are more choice of meals (no meal plan required), different options living in different neighborhoods around Cambridge or Boston, and freedom as to whom you can live with. Other Nearby Colleges & Universities Harvard University is only a few subway stops away from MIT. Students can hop on the train and arrive within only 15 minutes. Additionally, about 20 other schools are located within a 20 minute walk in the Boston Area. Some include Boston University, Northeastern, Emerson, Berklee, Boston Conservatory, and many more. Subway Access MIT is located near Kendall Square, which is located right on the Red Line. The Red Line (MBTA subway train) runs from Braintree north to Alewife. Trip costs are only $2 each, or unlimited monthly passes can be purchased at any subway station for $60 a month. Monthly passes are always highly suggested to save money and save time through-out the day from purchasing ticket after ticket. Apartment Rates & Pricing Apartments near MIT are priced slightly higher than average Cambridge apartments since the area is very close to Boston, and demand is very high in the overall region. Kendall Square, while maybe not as popular as Harvard Square, offers the convenience of being a 15 minute walk over the Massachusetts Avenue Bridge to Boston, and only a 5 minute subway ride. Apartments in this area generally run about 1000-1300 for a studio, 1300-1600 for one bedrooms, and $1700-2200 for two bedrooms.
