Porter Square Apartments
Porter Square is an area of Cambridge popular for shopping, eating out, and having a beer on weekends. Porter Square is located on the Red Line Subway, and has it's own subway stop called 'Porter Square'. Apartments in the area generally serve professionals and students that commute into Boston. Other poular destinations nearby are Harvard Square where Harvard University can be found, Kendal Square where MIT is located, and Davis Square which is a nice plaza area perfect for spending a late summer afternoon or evening.
Subway Access
As previously discussed, Porter Square has its own subway station located right near the Porter Square shopping plaze. Subway travel costs $2 per trip, or $60 per month. We typically suggest that newcomers to Boston purchase monthly passes if they do not have a car, and saving money is a priority to them. Parking in the city will run about $15 per day, and up to $350 per month for a private parking space. Monthly passes are easy to buy and end up saving a lot of time over buying a new pass on a daily basis.

Apartments in Porter Square run about the average price of apartments in Cambridge and Boston. Prices of these areas are fairly higher than suburban towns and neighborhoods surrounding Boston, but that doesn't bother those that come for the rich culture and numerous wealth of colleges and public facilities that Cambridge has to offer. Varying factors of apartment prices will be stuff like distance to subway, included parking, and if dogs or cats are allowed.
Studios in Porter Square will typically run for about $900-1100, 1 bedrooms for $1300-1600, and two bedrooms starting at around $1700.
