Washington Street ApartmentsWashington Street is a well known street that runs through Brookline and Brighton. Washington Street runs north to south, and is perpendicular to Commonwealth Avenue and Beacon Street, both of which are very popular. Aside from it's clean and pleasant appearance, numerous nice restaurants can be found here. Also, many neighborhood doctors, dentists, and family services can be found on Washington Street since its far enough outside the city to avoid high business costs, but near enough to benefit from walk in traffic and referals from other hospitals and insurance companies in the city. Apartments in Brookline are somewhat more expensive than in Brighton due to higher property values and more emphasis placed on building maintenance by the town of Brookline. Brighton is technically a neighborhood of Boston, so they operate under completely different funding. Washington Street generally has a lack of parking available, particularly in busier spring and summer months. Renters choosing to live in the area should purchase a yearly resident permit from the City of Boston to enable them to park in Resident Areas, or even better find apartments that supply a free parking space. Nearby Colleges & Universities Many Boston College and Boston University students live on Washington street, or at least on the smaller cross streets of Washington. Boston College is only about a 10 minute train ride west, and Boston University is only about a 10 minute train ride east. Other colleges that students may attend, but are farther away, are Northeastern, Suffolk, Wentworth, Simmons, Emerson, Emmanuel, Harvard, and MIT. Apartment Rates & Pricing Pricing varies according to location and proximity to which cross street the apartment is located. For example, being located closer to Beacon Street will be more expensive overall than living closer to Commonwealth Avenue. A 1 Bedroom apartment in Brookline will go for $1500, where in brighton that price may drop to $1200 or $1300. In this case it really depends on the features of the unit and the location.
