Boston Apartments Near the SubwayBostons subway system consists of 5 different train tracks traveling through Downtown Boston. There's the popular red and green lines, the orange line, the blue line, and the silver line. Each subway line contribues largely to boston being called "the walking city" since it's it not necessary to have a car in order to get to most places around Boston. Apartment LocationsMost apartments are located off of the Green Line Subway since it breaks off into 4 large fingers that reach far out toward central Massachusetts. Another up and coming location is Quincy and Braintree, two suburb towns that have everything you might need and are located on the Red Line. Quincy is known for Wollaston Beach which is perhaps the closest swimable beach to the City of Boston. How to get around:It's fairly easy to navigate Boston using the subway system. Live here for two weeks and you'll have it down pat. It's easy for two major reasons: 1. Subway lines only go to and from one location. In order words, there is no circles on the subway tracks that mean you have to wait for 2 hours for the subway to revisit a location. If you miss your stop, simple get off, go to the other side of the track, and get on the next subway going back to your destination. 2. Just about 90% of subway stops have information booths, or someone that you can speak to. If you can't find someone, then just get on the train and go to the next location. There are maps and pamphlets available for subway an bus lines Here's what a map looks like, it's pretty self explanatory:
Charlie Card PassThe subway pass comes in the form of a "charlie card" and is well worth the cost. For a one month pass to Bus & Train, you'll spend exactly $56. One ride without the pass costs $2.00 so we nearly always suggest purchasing a weekly pass or monthly pass. Parking IssuesOne reason the subway is so popular, is due to the high cost of parking, lack of spots and garages to park at, and the enormouse fees they tack on when you forget to pay the meter. Tickets generally start at $40, and run as high as $160. Don't get stuck with one of those babies! |
