Commonwealth Avenue, Boston ApartmentsCommonwealth Avenue or "Com Ave" is potentially the most popular street in Boston. It runs from central Boston out as far as Newton and links many popular towns through-out the outskirts of Boston including, Allston, Brighton, Brookline, Back Bay, Fenway, and Kenmore. Due to it's length and proximity to the city, apartment prices have a wide range of pricing and accessibility from $800 studios to $3500 three bedroom apartments. Average pricing for a one bedroom apartment in Brighton is $1200, where in Back bay it's expected to pay $1600-1800 for a similar unit. Luxury accomodations and short term rentals are also available on Commonwealth Ave, particularly in BackBay and Metro Boston. The Back Bay area of Commonwealth Ave runs parallel to Newbury Street, which is Bostons most well known shopping area for mid to high class retail stores and boutiques. Also, Not to much further away is Fenway Park, home to the Boston Red Sox. Fenway subway stop is particularly busy during Red Sox vs. Yankees games. Subway AccessPart of the reason of the popularity of Commonwealth Avenue is the ease in which it is to locate a subway stop. The "Boston College" Subway Line has more than 30 subway stops, which is almost double most other subway lines in Boston. The Green Line runs from Lechmere to Boston College in Newton, and runs until 12:30am. Subway tickets cost $2.00 per ride in cash, or $1.70 when purchasing on a Charlie Card (which is suggested since charlie cards are available at all free stops and are available to anyone). Colleges & UniversitiesCommonwealth Avenue is also home to the notorious Boston University or "BU". Boston Univeristy has several subway stops named after the college itself and are identified simply as "Boston University East", "Boston University West", and "Boston University Central". Boston University has more than 30,000 students, 17,000 of which are full time undergraduates. BU additionally offers graduate programs in Law, Business, and Medical Services, all of which are valued degrees across the globe. Finding ApartmentsFinding an apartment on Commonwealth Ave is not a challenge unless you're unsure of your personal preferences. Before going on this wild goose chase, be sure to travel the entire avenue and determine which areas look nice and are preferable to you. Consider things such as proximity to grocery stores, laundry facilities, where your work (employment) will be relative to your potential housing, and what sorts of people you'd like to surround yourself with. Keep in mind, higher price doesn't necessarily mean higher quality. In fact, many excellent deals can be found with a little planning. Never jump into a lease contract without considering numerous options. |
